A peregrine falcon snatching a riverboat surround by the abstract blend of nature shapes and concrete right in the harbour of Wageningen.

When Kai @kai_semor and me @jack_lack_ were asked to paint this 56-meter-high raw concrete wall, it was immediatly communicated that painting in early spring is taboo as this is breeding season for the falcon living on top*. So naturally, he became the protagonist of the painting: the bird that dictates the working schedule around the harbour.

He lives up there in an odd symbiosis with us - profiting from the tall building and keeping the local pigeon population in check. So in a way he is being fed by the building, so we gave him one of the big riverboats stopping right in front of the wall as a snack. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

* Who would have known that this cheeky bird will be super successful in the breeding season and stop our first attempt to paint this wall end of spring because of 3 eagle babies 😄

Pigeons were domesticated thousands of years ago, bred for their beauty, utility, and companionship. Once prized as messengers and symbols of peace, they were abandoned as cities grew and modernized. Forced to scavenge, they adapted to a world that no longer needed them. Now they linger, like a dog tied outside a supermarket—waiting for someone who will never return.

This deer is a greeting to the lovely people of Konohana, Osaka. In Japan, shika (deer) are considered messengers from the spirit world. As such, they also form a bridge between humans and nature. Over almost three weeks Me (@jack_lack_ ) and Kai (@kai_semor ) repainted this 900qm2 train station into a spotlight on the smaller animals around us. More specifically, we highlighted some insects impacted by the light pollution (of the train stations). Light pollution results from artificial light sources disturbing the darkness of the night. The insects that are attracted by light are especially negatively influenced.

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀𝗕𝘂𝘁 already minute changes can make a huge positive difference for the animals, such as a warmer light spectrum, screened-off light sources, and the consideration if the light really needs to be on the whole night.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀📍Location: UN Campus Joseph-Beuys-Allee, 53113 Bonn

The pictures are only a few selected parts, check out the location for the rest. We displayed this story by combining Kai`s signature urban abstraction in which I embedded the blurry animals. The layout was created based on the currently ongoing research by @museumkoenig and @go.rheinland on the topic of light pollution in train stations.

It's been in the first months of this year when I teamed up with @kai_semor for 2.5 days to paint this school in Eitorf. It was the first time to mix my figurative stuff with his playful abstract work. Loads of fun in the pouring rain.

The humpback whale's song can travel over 10.000 kilometers. By this song they are bonded together and connected over far distances. It is the crucial part of the humpbacks communication to stay together as a pod/group.

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ This wall is located right by the seaside at 60 Knightstone Rd, Weston-super-Mare.

Not all walls are visible and not every barrier can be seen. I painted the story of all the lil birds that won't go near the noise pollution of cities, staying away from it in a cage defined by the fear of the city noises. Probably the great tit is not always one of them but it is a bird I like a lot.

Mural art as means of social change. Artistically, this is a collaboration between me and my mate Semor but content wise we had a broad exchange and access to the knowledge of the fantastic biodiversity researchers at @museumkoenig .

With the goal to create more awareness of the current loss of biodiversity we were taking the path to spotlight and appreciate our biodiversity. So we painted a wild flower meadow, in our books something as diverse as it can be, right in our backyard. However, in the center we dropped a silhouette of a bird which could be all the other species living there or the ones already lost.

The whole project became especially exciting as we hopped out of our comfort zone and painted most of the wall with brushes instead of spraypaint.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
